Gay Vancouver, June 2011

Many events of interest are happening right now, including the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs in Vancouver, where the Vancouver Canucks will be battling the Boston Bruins for the cup. That said, the sports bars in Davie Village are full to the max, Canucks jerseys and flags are de rigueur, Granville Street downtown is blocked off for street celebrations on game nights and public transit vehicles all over town feature digital banners with Go Canucks Go!

Vancouver is also gearing up for other major sporting events and events of interest to the LGBT community in the months ahead, including the the 2011 Vancouver North America Outgames, July 25 - 31, and the Vancouver Outgames 2011 Human Rights Conference, July 26 - 28. The annual Vancouver Pride Festival kicks off on June 25 with East Side Pride, with over a month of exciting events, culminating with the Vancouver Pride Parade and Festival on July 31. Last year, it is estimated that over 650,000 people came out for this spectacular event.
