Vancouver, August 23, 2010

As we head in to the last few weeks of summer 2010, the forecast is for clear skies, sunshine, warm temperatures, and there's a fantastic lineup of exciting events to explore.

Lady GaGa was performing with her Monster Ball Tour in Vancouver recently, with two sold-out shows on August 23 & 24 at Roger's Arena. After attending a tasteful wine and cheese hosted by the Empress of Canada, Mr. ted northe, promoting the September 29 Q Foundation Golf Tournament to raise funds to Fight Bullying, we happened upon Lady GaGa's tour bus in the parking lot of the arena, and took a snapshot while heading back the West End. Celebrities Nightclub is also hosting a Little Monster Party August 23 for all her little monsters after the performance, and if your didn't see her Monday night, you could win four tickets to her sold-out show on Tuesday for the best GaGa inspired outfit! The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) is celebrating their 100 Anniversary this year, and this annual event which has been part of many of our lives over the years (including Gay Day at Playland), has a fantastic line-up of events and concerts August 21 - September 6. A few highlights include Kevin Costner, Terri Clark, Michael Bolton, Loverboy, Huey Lewis and the News, Wayne Newton, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Cindi Lauper, Little River Band and Trooper. Seating for these performances (first come-first serve) are included in your gate entry ($20) and you can save a bit by booking online, or picking them up at 7 Eleven, Safeway, and Shoppers Drug Mart, in the lower mainland, or right on Davie Street in the West End. We're going this week, and plan to ride Revelation one more time; see last year's Revelation ride video on our YouTube uploads:  http://www.youtube.com/user/Gayvanguy#p/u/8/ds77nGKSYjI . More PNE info online: http://www.pne.ca/thefair/index.html .

And as you may have noticed, we have highlighted many events taking place at the legendary Odyssey Nightclub, which after over 15 years of serving the Vancouver's gay community, are being forced out of their location which is set to be demolished; so this will be your last time to get out and celebrate this venue and all the fantastic times it represents. Be sure to be there for the last Feather Boa Show on Sunday, September 5, and be part of Vancouver's LGBT history. Or better yet, start off with host Joan-E on the CruiseyT Grande Finale Party Cruise of the season, and follow her to The Odyssey where she will host her final Feather Boa Show on the last night of this legendary nightclub!! Cheers!
